Falkland Islands air defence detachment (Typhoons and Voyager)
RAF Mount Pleasant hosts a permanent detachment of four Typhoons. They are the Tranche 1 aircraft that stay in service after the wider Tranche 1 retirement. A Voyager tanker has been based at Mount Pleasant since the mid-1980s. It was pulled back to the UK in April 2026 for Middle East demands. It returned on 3 September 2026 after about five months and has since flown patrols with the Typhoons.
